The West Indies cricketers will arrive in Trinidad tonight at 8.35 pm from London, following their dismal tour of Australia which ended on Monday. The team will have little or no rest as they face up to a determined Zimbabwe outfit at the Queen’s Park Oval in a T20 International on Sunday. West Indies team liaison officer Rangy Nanan said yesterday the players who toured Australia will arrive at 8.15pm tonight, while Jamaican Dave Bernard will come in this morning at 8.50 am. Grenadian Andre Fletcher who left Trinidad yesterday with the rest of the Windwards team will also return today. He comes in at 1.45 pm and will link up with the local players Adrian Barath and Darren Bravo, as well as Guyanese batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

West Indies will have the day off tomorrow before their solitary training session at the Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday. The players will then meet with their new coach Ottis Gibson. Meanwhile, the Zimbabweans who arrived in the country on Tuesday did light training at the Oval yesterday. Manager Anesu Kasesu said his team is ready for the big clash. “Most of the guys have been in really good form in our T20 series that ended on the weekend and we are looking to push on from there. The boys had two long flights so yesterday was just a matter of light training and adjusting to the weather conditions.” Zimbabwe will train at 9 am at the Oval, before taking on the UWI Vice-Chancellor’s XI in a warm-up match at St. Augustine on Friday.

Kasesu warned the West Indies will be coming back hard after being beaten in Australia. “You can say they would will be coming out as wounded tigers after their loss in Australia. One must put into context their loss to Australia though. They were seriously hampered by injuries with most of their regulars were not fit to play.
